Organisations that measure and report their key sustainability, social and governance metrics are more likely to better manage their resource consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts.
The aim is to use open data to map sustainability performance and help countries and regions understand their impacts, as well as their role in influencing the agenda. Only then can businesses, organisations and governments react accordingly, set their own policies and targets and make improvements to deliver the benefits of a long term sustainable economy.
By sharing data the process is made more efficient – organisations become more accountable and inclined to collaborate for mutual benefit. Reporting accuracy is improved, trust established and progress much more likely than organisations working in isolation.
This Open Sustainability Reporting Initiative will strive to be a platform that inspires transparency, collaboration and performance improvement, driving real change towards a sustainable global economy.
